Executive Director

Rhoda Peskin has been Executive Director of Temple Beth El since 2009. Prior to coming to Beth El, she had over a decade of office management experience, including six years as the Synagogue Administrator of Congregation Kodimoh in Springfield.

Born and raised in West Hartford, CT, Rhoda holds a B.A. in History from the University of Pennsylvania and an M.A. in American History from the University of Connecticut. Since moving to the Springfield area in 1979, Rhoda has been an active volunteer in the Jewish community for many years. She has been a member of the boards of the Young Women’s Division of the Jewish Federation of Western MA, United Hebrew School, the Hebrew Free Loan Association, and Congregation B’nai Jacob. Before becoming Executive Director of Temple Beth El, Rhoda served as a B’nai Jacob representative on the Beth El/B’nai Jacob Merger Committee, the Rabbinic Search Committee and the Beth El Board of Trustees.

Rhoda and her husband, Judd, have three grown children – Aaron, Elizabeth, and Rebecca, and two granddaughters, Charlotte and Jane.This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Director of Education

Caryn Resnick received her degree in Education from Boston University, and has done graduate work in education at American International College, Springfield College, and Hebrew College. Caryn has been the Director of the Sandi Kupperman Learning Center at Temple Beth El since 1995. She is a graduate of the Sulamot Family Education Initiative, and is a certified Jewish Family Educator.

Caryn has worked as a teacher in the Enfield public schools, Heritage Academy, and Wilbraham public schools, and as an instructor at Springfield College. She was a recipient of the Teacher of Excellence Award from the Harold Grinspoon Foundation, and has won four Solomon Schechter Awards for her outstanding synagogue education programs. Her innovative programs have included Shabbatonim retreats, resource space for children with special learning styles, mentor-in-training programs, and teen trips to Israel.

Caryn was raised in Western Massachusetts, where she and her parents were very active in the Conservative Jewish community. This was the foundation for her passion for Jewish education, which she demonstrates daily at Temple Beth El through her creative and interactive programs and dynamic teaching style. Caryn has two sons – David (of blessed memory) and Jason. She greatly enjoys spending time with her grandchildren, Michael, Cameron, and Stella.This email address is being protected from spambots.
