A Message from Our Friends at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church:
Dear Members of the Longmeadow Interfaith Community,
Last week, a neighbor reached out to us with a particular concern about a need not being met during the COVID-19 crisis: the need for diapers, period products, and incontinence supplies. These needs are always present, but even greater challenges exist now, with the closure of some community agencies and the need to allocate resources toward food distribution.
To help meet this need, we are going to do a drive during the month of May, and have made contact with several community agencies who are excited to distribute the products we collect. We'll have a drop site at St. Andrew's, and we've created a registry that ships directly to us for those who want to participate but aren't comfortable going out to stores.
My hope is that this would not be a project of our church alone, but something we could do together as a wider community. We've named the initiative Longmeadow Loves with the hope that partners from across the community would be willing to work on this with us. With everything going on right now, it's so hard to know how we can help, but this is a real, tangible way to help a need that's not being met.
There are lots of details in the attached document about the plans for the drive and the need for these products. I've also attached our logo, which we'd love you to share and use in social media posts about the drive.
We are hoping to send out a press release in the next couple of days, and want to be sure to include other churches, temples, and organizations who are participating, so please let me know if you'd like to be on that list!
Call/text/email if you have questions. We're excited about this opportunity, and hope you'll join us!
With many prayers for you and your communities during this time,
The Rev. Charlotte H. LaForest
Rector, St. Andrew's Episcopal Church
